I received my gorgeous red 14” 15 note c major drum a few days ago and am really enjoying learning to play it. To be honest, the only thing I’ve learned so far is Amazing Grace but it sounds wonderful. Love the tone, love the color…it’s a great drum.

I'm always worried about Kalimbas when they come from overseas, as I've received several with dead tines with no means of quick replacements-- or any, at times.
This kalimba arrived in great shape, even though the box was crushed pretty bad. Aside from a few of the times having shifted, it was in perfect working order!

It's true that smaller tongues have shorter sustain. The striking areas for the bass, midrange, and treble registers are different; please see the attached images for details.

I use this kalimba on work as a necklace (I'm a healthcare worker, guiding and helping people with an intellectuel disability, or complex disabilities (physical, cognitive, demensia... and more)). It helps calming them but also for communication or connection (they like to reach to the instrument and play)...Not too loud for cliënts with autsim, loud enough to hear with hearing aids. So this is a tool I almost use daily. Forgive me for any writing mistakes... English isn't my first language.

The smaller size of 2 & 7 seem to have not much of a sound & was the same for my sister who bought 1 @ the same timeframe. Any thoughts HLURU?
